About Us

We build cutting-edge digital tools for medics so they can save more lives.

At Muru, we push the limits of technology to tackle one of the largest problems faced by EMS — making medical decisions from guidelines that are scattered throughout multiple PDFs, printed documents, agencies, and websites. By building the “Siri of Protocols,” medics can now get the answers they need instantly, so every patient receives the highest standard of care.

Our clients range from the entire State of New York to the Department of Defense, reflecting the trust placed in our work at the highest levels.

We’re looking for a college studentwho’s passionate about quality engineering and eager to learn how software getsbuilt, tested, and shipped in production. This role will give you hands-onexperience with mobile app development.

About the Role

As an intern, you’ll contribute to a business-critical mobile application used by frontline medics. The role will start focused on building Flutter user interfaces and grow into broader mobile development — state management, data integration, and testing. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven learning environment. The hours are part-time during the fall and spring semesters.

Responsibilities

Mobile UI Development
  • Make improvements and bug fixes to a large Flutter mobile application.
  • Work with and improve the application’s design system and reusable widgets.
  • Work with a GraphQL API to fetch and display data in the app.
  • Conduct manual testing on iOS and Android and set up automated widget/UI tests.

Broader Mobile Development

  • Implement app state management to support new features.
  • Integrate the app with backend APIs and handle local data and caching.
  • Create unit and integration tests for application logic.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to develop a large mobile application with a complex data model.
  • How to use GraphQL to fetch data with precision and efficiency.
  • How to manage app state and handle local persistence for a complex real-world application.
  • How to write and organize unit, integration, and widget/UI tests.
  • How professional engineering teams work: creating pull requests, responding to code review, testing your code, and shipping changes safely to production.

What We’re Looking For

  • Student actively working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • Experience writing code in an object-oriented language such as Java, Dart, Kotlin, Swift, or TypeScript.
  • Interest in building mobile apps using a mobile framework such as Flutter, React Native, SwiftUI, or Jetpack Compose.
  • Comfort using the command-line terminal for basic tasks (i.e. navigating directories, running scripts).
  • Interest in building polished mobile user interfaces and reliable app features.
  • Excited about growing into a broader mobile engineering role over time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Why Join

  • Get hands-on experience with a wide variety of mobile engineering skills.
  • You’ll be paired with a mentor who will review your code, help you solve difficult problems, and meet with you regularly.
  • Contribute to a mission-driven product that supports frontline workers.
  • Learn directly from a small, experienced team and see your impact immediately.
